Our Story

We are a group of people (friends, neighbors, colleagues, and yes, even strangers) who hunger to build an authentic, honest, hospitable and deeply spiritual Christian community. Many of us have extensive experience and service (often in places of highest leadership) in the traditional Sunday morning church. Yet at some point we have felt that somehow or somewhere we have come up short and missed what a real spiritual community should be. Others of us have little or no experience in the traditional church but are eager to explore and experience a personal relationship with God in a way that is humble, open, and real.

Let us be clear - we don’t make any claims to be especially spiritual or that we have all of the answers figured out… we only claim to be on a journey to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ and this world He came to save. In 2006, this journey led us to create a local, independent (non-denominational) House Church here in Lake Stevens. A place to make connections, to worship, to learn, and to share our spiritual journey and grow in faith. Not a place where we simply “go” to church, but a place to learn how to “be” the church."

We recognize that for many the traditional Sunday morning congregation is the perfect setting for their spiritual journey and life of faith. We are grateful for such churches and wholeheartedly bless their ministry. However, we also recognize that many others need and long for something different in their experience and passion for God. As we continue our mission to build this new kind of Christian community, we realize that the process of how we build must also be in synch with the goal itself. Therefore we desire to incorporate the values and practices into our fellowship that you see in the box to the right.

Organic - Not contrived or manufactured

Conversation - Not a lecture

Open - Not rigid or forced

Speaking the Truth in Love - Not easy agreement, nor simple avoidance, nor quick judgment

Pioneers on a Journey of Faith - Not Settlers who have “arrived”

Spiritually Focused - Not activity driven

Freedom and Grace - Not duty or obligation

We started this house church out of a desire to create a place where people can come-as-they-are and yet leave with more than what-they-came-with. We have no interest in spiritual pretense, self-promotion, self-righteousness, or the need to serve God out of obligation or fear. We invite anyone with a kindred spirit, no matter who you are, where you have been, or how you define your faith, to come and fellowship with us.
